Must Be Passport to Teach English in Taiwan?

Hello,

I've got citizenship in Malaysia AND I've got a Green Card in the USA. Not yet a US citizen, but almost. This article says https://tealit.com/article_categories.p ... an-in-2023 that a person needs a PASSPORT from a country with English as an official language. I'd really like to try teaching English in Taiwan, but seems like having JUST a Green Card won't be enough, even though I've basically lived here all my life - uni degreees, etc. Anyone know if a Green Card can be used to get a work permit to teach English in Taiwan?

Thanks!

Have you tried sending them a query? Did it work? I also have a US Green Card, and I am wondering how it can affect my status.

I looked into this kind of thing before, and from what I found, Taiwan usually wants a passport from an English-speaking country if you’re applying to teach English, so having a Green Card might not be enough, even if you’ve lived in the U.S. forever. I know it can feel pretty limiting, especially when you’ve got all the qualifications. If you ever need to verify citizenship or ID details for work or other stuff, I’ve seen sites like www.idanalyzer.com that help check document authenticity—might be useful if you’re dealing with ID rules.
