I also thought I was intelligent enough to spot a fraud a mile away, and today I can. But as a new arrival to China it took me two years just to learn the top 20 scams that were leaving teacher carnage everywhere. The point is that we learn from the mistakes of others, and our own. These horror story videos are just a tip of a very big, and a very ugly iceberg. Don't ever let your guard down in China. The good news is that 80% of the schools and training centers are honest, but the same number of recruiters and job agents are not. All newbie TEFL teachers WILL get scammed one way or another in China, Korea, and even Japan. Expect it. The learning curve for most of us was about 6-9 months. But in that time you can easily be cheated out of $10,000. Y'all need to visit https://reddit.com/r/TEFL_Job_Scams
