Fake Job Alert - ID Thieves want your resume & Passport info
I won't say the name here but there is a famous ESL forum that is posting ads that are "too good to be true" and that is because they are fake jobs that do not exist! I responded to one that offered to pay 25,000 a month with a free apartment and 2 months paid vacation. Within a weel they gave me a Skype interview (fake) emailed me a contract (for a company that is not registered with SAFEA, SAIC, or the Beijing Tax Authority) and then said they needed a copy of my passport and social security number in order to send me a an invitation letter. Then I saw this http://www.scam.com/showthread.php?6853 ... ost1913760 and got suspicious. I called the embassy and they said my Social Security number is not needed for any reason and they told me it must be a scam. So when I posted a question about this company on the forum, asking if anyone also went to work for EXXXXXXXXXX Education, my comment was deleted. I reposted it and it was deleted again and I was banned! I started Googling about this sort of scam and found this which every ESL/TEFL teacher needs to read I think: http://chinascamwatch.wordpress.com. Be warned people.

One of my colleagues went through a similar situation. So after that, I'm very careful with each scam and ad.
