Re: Contemplating doing a 15 week ONLINE CELTA course.
"Online CELTA" is a complete misnomer, because it's actually a blended course (as you say) and your cert will just say "CELTA". If you are worried about future employment, just write "CELTA" and the name of the centre in Dublin on your CV. However, I would agree that fa...

Re: Experience needed before pursuing a DELTA? + Centres.
As you only usually take the Delta once, I don't really know how anyone can comment on what the best centres are. Probably the best indication is their pass rates, which you'd have to contact them for. I'm sure centres would be happy to put you in touch with people who have previously taken the cour...

Re: Need inspiration for group reading/speaking activities
It's difficult to give general tips because it is my philosophy that with authentic texts the task comes out of the text (in the same way as for a modernist sculptor the work comes out of the particular piece of wood or stone that they are working on). For example, for the top one I'd take out the m...

Re: Experience needed before pursuing a DELTA? + Centres.
I'd generally agree that part time is better if you can do it. People are usually limited to ones near where they are presently working - do you mean you are thinking of moving to be near a Delta course and then finding a job while you are there?

Re: Course Decision Query (CELTA vs. TEFL International)
Please feel free to mention the name of the school. I managed to track down one Cambridge ESOL Platinum centre in Granada, and there was no mention of CELTA on its website.

Re: Experience needed before pursuing a DELTA? + Centres.
Are you thinking of blended, part time face to face or intensive face to face? I'd say 3 years full time is more realistic. To start with, they usually expect you to have done a good range of levels in that time and to have done a fair amount of teacher development, e.g. peer obs, and it's quite dif...

I know the name, the course in Trinity, and they've been running it for a while, which are all good signs.
Here's an article of mine on this site about questions you could ask them to find out more:

Re: Very Confused
Julie clearly has some connection to i-to-i, and you'd have to if you'd claim that any of their courses is as well respected as Cambridge CELTA or Trinity CertTESOL. Also, CELTA can now be done as a blended course.

Re: Bell Online Delta v. IH Distance Delta
Because I was being paid by Bell, obviously my school was not willing to cut down on my hours and so I had to do the Local Delta Tutor stuff on top of my normal schedule. My company tried to arrange for Bell to pay them and my company to cut my teaching hours down by that amount, but no go, so they ...

Re: Bell Online Delta v. IH Distance Delta
I've worked as a Bell Local Tutor and researched these questions for the Cambridge Delta FAQ on this site. You've basically got it right, apart from: - They aren't the only providers who do online or blended courses - I'm going through the list on the Cambridge ESOL site at the moment and of the one...

Re: Internship or Not, and the best place to train
I think I can safely say that it is always better to do a four week face to face certificate like the Cambridge CELTA and then choose from the tens of thousands of jobs that makes available rather than to do training with a job attached.

Re: intesol international dip. tesol worthwhile?
It can be complicated with initial teaching qualifications, but with diplomas it is quite simple - most employers will only accept Cambridge and Trinity. Even university diploma courses are far less accepted. Much more info here: http://www.tefl.net/tefl-courses/faq-tefl-diploma.htm It is possible t...

I very much doubt that employers would even ask about a degree for online teaching. Why don't you contact a few employers and ask?

Re: ESL Course from Scratch
You would need accreditation for things like sponsoring visas, but I can't see any reason why you couldn't teach English as just another subject from tomorrow. Would it be EFL (people who are planning to return to their own country) or ESOL (immigrants)? If the former, you could simply base your cou...

Re: ESL Course from Scratch
Needing a license would depend on the country - where are you? Also, what kind of business does your company do now?
No problem with running a course with published materials, though each student would need to buy their own textbook. Would they be actual beginners, or just Elementary?

It is very difficult to get a job abroad as a non-native teacher, and in Japan I'm afraid there is basically no chance. Not sure about the other countries.
