Re: Goodbye TEFL and a return home to chaos
I think ‘Colin’ wasn’t too happy with that (I wondered where his posts had gone), but this sitting at home with your feet up talking on a mobile phone for lots of money isn’t going to happen. haha Don't worry too much. I think he'd find it because the urls are number-based. But in the end he jumped...

May be a "niche" topic but an interesting journal and thought-provoking for some. I moved the off-topic topic that suddenly sprang up in your topic  That couldn't have helped  I think ‘Colin’ wasn’t too happy with that (I wondered where his posts had gone), but this sitt...

Re: am I too old?
Well, I am 60. But I feel that I am in my sweet 20s. I am very active and can run a mile alongside a youth of 18, and win. Some people do not seem to respect my vigor and lucidity, much more my life experience. And this is the sole reason why they do not accept my job applications. Maybe their yout...

Re: Teaching TEFL Abroad Without an Anglo-Saxon/American name?
Thank you Odyssey, Someone needs to tell it like it is. The merit goes to this forum that gives vent to democratic voices like my big open mouth. However, the truth shall always stand out very strong independent of those who try to render obscure real facts, or are tolerant with fake personalities....

Re: Am i possible to get teaching job in China if i am a non native English speaker?
It's not so much the schools as the government, and that is because they have rules regarding work permits/visas. As I understand it, the government rules may vary from state to state or province to province (ie local government rules too), but in general, the government requires English teachers to...

Re: Prospective TEFL teacher
I’m interested in doing either a CELTA/Trinity TESOL course. I’m not 100% which one is best as the latter has a module called “Unknown Language” while I can’t find one on the CELTA. I’ve done some research on places like i-to-i and TEFL Org but have come across reviews where people have reported th...

Re: am I too old
There are lots of people over 46 teaching English as a foreign language all over the world, both offline and on. Some countries make it more difficult to get employed after 50 or 60, but it's far from impossible.

Re: Teaching online for newly qualified TEFL teacher
I have a different issue with Pay Pal. i once got a payment-due notice form "Pay Pal" even though I had never used that service. I wrote to Pay Pal explaining my situation, asking for an explanation. They never responded. Even if it was phishing by some-one else, why couldn't Pay Pal have...

1. Not sure how true that is and in any case there are a million other ways for payments, including Alipay from China.
2. I personally know several Thai people who have PayPal from Thailand. That’s in Asia.

Re: Do agents make 40% on every student?!
I think there might have been some confusion (I think because of my original wording) re student referrals between schools although you went on to answer my question anyway. Just to confirm, the commission charged by schools in other countries for recommending a particular school in London is more ...

I share your enthusiasm for grammar, but prefer to see it not as a set of rules but more as a reflection of how we speak:
