Re: Global teachers
On April 17 2008 I paid global teachers 100 Euros for an application fee. I was told this fee would entitle me to Job placement services. Global teachers said they already had interest in my CV and wanted to set up phone interviews with perspective employers, so I paid the fee. However, no intervie...

Re: Best Country in which to earn/save money?
I've read this in an article and found out the best salaries by state of a teacher. The most recent report included a list of teacher salaries by state. The state with the highest average teacher salary was Connecticut, at $57,760. California was a very close second, where the average teacher salary...

Re: The difference between maybe and might be
There is no difference between may and might worth agonizing about. may sounds a bit more formal to my ear. And may cannot be used where a past tense is required in tense matching: "I knew I might be late. Not I knew I may be late." In other situations, both are used the same way. Use goog...

Re:
All I can think of, should you still have the class, is to ask the school to split the class. Lower and intermediate can be taught as one group. The "false beginners" do not belong in that group at all. It's a no win scenario, at best! I agree with enigma. Split the class in two sections ...

Re: Teaching English Language Pronunciation to Chinese Students.
Working with others who do not speak the same language as you can be frustrating. If you work with Chinese employees and you are interested in effectively communicating with them, teaching them English may be worth the effort. Although it is assumed that Chinese employees working in the United State...

Re: Warm Up Exercises?
maybe this also helps. USE WORD GAMES: Word games are of many kinds. You can give your students a rather long word telling them to find the maximum number of small words which can be formed from that long word using the letters only once. For example if the long word is 'magnificent' they can make s...

Re: Interesting classroom activities
I have just remembered some activities we used to do at the American Language School. When one of the students says a word, the one next to him/her must say another word that starts with the final letter of the word said by his/her classmate. It was a real fun! It also helped us with spelling. We we...

Re: Observing lessons
I like to start by focusuing on the good aspects of the lesson. And ask the teacher what they felt went well. It keeps the feedback constructive. then you can go on and focus on some aspects that need to be addressed, but as you have looked at good points the teacher is more open to new ideas and t...
