How do I explain more complex topics to non-natives?
I've been tasked to teach more complex topics like smart contracts , crypto, altcoins, and the like to my Chinese students. We've been doing well with familiarizing ourselves with the concepts using visual cues–but when it comes to deeper understanding it's proving to become more difficult. Do y'all...

Current working set-up?
How have y'all and your corresponding learning institution adapted to the pandemic thus far? Did you stick with virtual learning, go back to physical classes, or are you stuck in a hybrid scenario? In our school, we've stuck with virtual classes and my favorite thing about it is we're now 100% paper...

Re: How do you feel about online tutoring?
Hhhhmmm this is tough. Aside from the fact that online tutoring is an environmentally-friendly way to provide education. It doesn't require any paper or textbooks, and it doesn't produce any emissions from cars or buses, promoting a greener world and alternative energy solutions . I really liked it ...

Re: Use extreme caution BEFORE you send or upload your resume.
I use a very basic resume that uses my first name and my last name with a deliberate spelling mistake and only my skype contact and disposable email address. I never give passport scans until I am talking directly with the employer AFTER they made me an offer that I accept. I think I am safe yes? T...

Re: Business English Teaching ?
Hello everyone! Since (as you probably already know) I am pretty new to this game, I would like to ask a question to all of you out there: Since I just received my Business English Teaching (BE) certificate (arrived by mail this morning), I am wondering how the market is for this kind of subject? D...

Online learning discussion
A co-faculty and I were discussing the inefficiency of using multiple LMS systems and video conferencing mediums a few days ago. I'm pretty sure a handful of us have already experienced the headaches of logging into zoom, only to realize a few minutes later that you were supposed to use Google Meet ...

What do you think of a part time teaching job and a business? - Need some advice
Our institution hired a new teacher part time but is having struggles with her finances cause his husband is having a hard time finding a new job after getting laid off. We can't offer her a full-time role yet cause she's still on probation. She's thinking of having a side gig but couldn't leverage ...

Re: How to make your students participate at a online lesson
I know it can be tough. As an admin our participation rates have gone down. But what worked for us is to get students into a game, we advised our teachers to make it more fun than just having lectures. We gave them bonus points if they answer questions before other, competing students.

Re: am I too old?
Hi I was wondering the exact same thing. I am 57 and have been teaching for 20+ years. I am retiring with my husband to Greece over the next few weeks and have completed my TEFL qualification. My idea is to do some online teaching because I love the job and I feel too young to "do nothing"...

New to the Community - Hello and need advice
Hello everyone, I'm Janet a School Administrator based in Asia (but I'm a California native, so hello fellow Californians here) a friend recommended the forum so immediately jumped on the train cause I'm looking for advice if any administrators out here have revamped their website? If yes, what kind...
