No because I was new on the forum. So if others did not, why should a newcomer spoil the broth?

Re: Non-EU friendly schools??

In my days there was no such thing as fraud with relation to visas and what have you. I have even noticed a post about fake TEFL certificate. All of this can only be credited to the youths of today. Crime has become very rampant nowadays and this only serves to put smoke in the route of those that a...

Re: Goodbye TEFL and a return home to chaos

I have an old house here that I can sell to raise the cash, if it is all worth while. Hoping not to invest and have a fall down in the end and be worse off. That was exactly what I was told about investing in a TEFL, to find out that I am still without any progress ha ha ha.

Re: Goodbye TEFL and a return home to chaos

Well I am willing to accept anything. Apart from keeping my head over water, in my specific case it will be my waist. The 2 private schools sound good to me since I don`t mind working hard which I have always done.

Re: Goodbye TEFL and a return home to chaos

None whatever. No piggy bank and no job. Then I am condemned.
You named it all. Non native, over aged. If I had known, I would never have invested in this TEFL business to spend cash that I do not even have, without any returns thereafter.

Re: Goodbye TEFL and a return home to chaos

I also have TKT which is becoming outdated. TEFL is modern for a while and will soon be down the drain too. Within the education world one always needs to keep abreast and updated. When I first started it was chalk and blackboard which may be quite unknown to contemporaneous students. We needed to h...

Re: Only accept teachers with accredited teaching certificate??

Quite on the contrary. The Chinese govt is making excellent cash off of my small Guyana, since they hold the contract to build all the roads and highways throughout the country. Apart from participating in the American oil exploration to put the country on the `rich ` market for next year. It only h...

Re: Goodbye TEFL and a return home to chaos

Thank you John, It so happens that I am 60 but without a piggy bank. Teaching has been my life time job and it continues to be so, even though it is passing phase and in the mass. Life has actually never smiled on me. This is the principal reason why I got this TEFL qualification to see if there is ...

Re: Goodbye TEFL and a return home to chaos

Come on guys. I am very open minded and well accustomed to my appreciated democracy. I was very grateful for the input regarding my query and that was enough. No need whatever to prolong after what was already said and done. Thanks once more for keeping me in mind, although I remain without a job wh...

Re: Only accept teachers with accredited teaching certificate??

Thank you very much Mr John V55. You painted the exact portrait of the situation. The merit goes to your rich experience and wisdom. Well, I thought they were famous due to their mushroom presentation ha ha. They are looking for preferable "barby" dolls like I had mentioned in previous pos...

Re: Only accept teachers with accredited teaching certificate??

Oh thank you very much.
However I had already sent my TEFL certificate beforehand. I have over 20 years of experience. Furthermore they do not accept reapplications. Maybe you know them, for being very famous. They`re called "Palfish".

Only accept teachers with accredited teaching certificate??

Hello people, this is a good one for all. Many employers never tell the real reason for turning down a job application. I however received this one with regards to my application yesterday. Teaching Certificate: Due to new legislation from the Chinese government, we can only accept Teachers who hold...

Re: am I too old?

That is very good light being shone on the topic guys, thanks.
That puts EU as one of the most just places to work with rational ensured laws. What a pity that we cannot say the same about other massive contractors on the other side of the globe with democratic eruptions in their backyard.

Re: The talk of racism in TEFL online

Heck, I know one day we would really get to the bottom of it all. Quite good for people to speak out so we can get the real portrait of this business after all. I had thought that the principal reason for the "native" scheme was only political socioeconomic power, but now it is getting cle...

Re: am I too old?

Quite a good suggestion. It is not the age that does the job, but know how and technique which is totally independent of age. And who would dare to enact such a law? The collude of the oligopoly is always stronger than the scattered group of silent teachers. There is hardly anyone to stand up and de...

Re: Teaching TEFL Abroad Without an Anglo-Saxon/American name?

Thank you Odyssey, Someone needs to tell it like it is. The merit goes to this forum that gives vent to democratic voices like my big open mouth. However, the truth shall always stand out very strong independent of those who try to render obscure real facts, or are tolerant with fake personalities. ...

Re: am I too old?

Well, I am 60. But I feel that I am in my sweet 20s. I am very active and can run a mile alongside a youth of 18, and win. Some people do not seem to respect my vigor and lucidity, much more my life experience. And this is the sole reason why they do not accept my job applications. Maybe their youth...

Re: Teaching TEFL Abroad Without an Anglo-Saxon/American name?

Everything seems to be an issue for these employers. Name, age, qualifications, handsome or ugly and all the rest. They are actually looking for a perfect "barby" doll and not a good professional. Gone are the days when a fresh man would be welcome to a honey ride. Things have gotten so ro...
