Re: Teaching grammar- Help!

To teach English grammar, I always refer to Edmond Murphy's 'English Grammar in Use'. Still the best after all these years; it comes in 3 levels. I refer to it as the Bible. Since you are from Israël, you can call it the Torah 8)

Re: Do you have any ideas on teaching oriented exam courses?

Exam preparation courses such as TOEFL should be taught by teachers with a specific experience in that field. Teaching English in Belgium

I"ve been teaching in Brussels, Belgium for the last couple of years and want to explain how things work around here. I like it here in 'Triple B' (Bloody Boring Belgium) 8) but getting started as an English teacher is not so easy. Rule nr 1: IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO WORK AS AN EMPLOYEE FOR A...

Re: EFL startup costs in different countries

Most teachers give it up after a couple of years and start working for an existing school. TEFL and the business of T...

Re: Why bother teaching Business English ?

Business English can be a pain if people expect you to help them with their jargon, which is often too technical.

Re: Getting a job without experience

I've been teaching all over Europe, and never in a rural area :P If you are good, you'll get work. Sometimes, the director of studies of the schools where I worked told me about their interview of potential teachers. Hilarious. "What is the simple past?" "Gee, man, don't know... but I...
