Where to work overseas is a daunting task?

Unread post by twebb »

I am TEFL certified, have a BA, and around 200-300 hrs ESL experience teaching adults in Tennessee. I am eager to start my teaching career abroad and will be starting from scratch. I prefer tropical climates and making more than 400$ a month, so I am a little leery of South American countries. I would prefer to move somewhere so I can work on my Spanish, but would Korea, Vietnam, or Thailand be a smart move for the money? Ideally I would like to be by the ocean but I am willing to change that mindset for a job that would build my resume.

Any thoughts?

I have experience teaching in Thailand, and I found it to be a nice place. The climate is tropical and you can make more than $400 a month. The average salary is about $1000 a month. If you work near the beaches, the salary might be a bit lower than in Bangkok.
