Racial bais

Unread post by jadeo »

This is a bit of a weird topic to ask advice for, but I want to know what countries have a strong racial bias.

I'm looking to teach aboard this September and am pretty open to where I teach.

I'm a black woman from the UK and I guess I wanted to know are there any counties to avoid?

Thanks

I'd say China would be a place to avoid.

I strongly disagree with Susan.

As a black woman myself (also, from the UK) searching for a job overseas, I have come across countless black women who are currently working in China.

If you want more insight into this topic, join the group "Women of Colour Living Abroad" on facebook. There are black women on there working in countless countries. You will encounter discrimination anywhere - even in the west - but it's up to you whether you decide to break down those barriers and get your feet wet.

Certainly, some employers will see a black face and want nothing to do with us but just move on. There are plenty of employers out there that look at merit instead of colour so don't let this discourage you.
